New York State
Department Of Transportation
Schenectady, New York
A four-story, 125,000 square feet office building designed to be the new Regional Headquarters for the New York State Department of Transportation in downtown Schenectady. This state-of-the-art “green” design solution building is LEED Silver Certified. The design cuts utility and water usage, improves indoor air quality, uses locally produced construction materials, and contributes to an environmentally-friendly construction effort set forth by the United States.
The brick and cast stone in traditional punched-opening arrangements reflect the City’s turn-of-the-century’s Mercantile style and the design of the base reflects the first floor retail architecture prevalent in the downtown, significant transparency, large glass openings, steel lintels above glass, and lighting above the storefront bays.
