S.T.A.R.S. Community Center

Construction Intervention

Entire design and renovation of existing youth center was featured on the television show Construction Intervention, a Discovery Channel Network production. The design was to create an exciting and inspirational space, within in the context of a narrow, tiny 100 year-old building.

Synthesis worked closely with the producers and contractors to meet the tight schedule demands of the show and to take the Youth Center building from disaster to show piece during the virtually impossible five-day renovation schedule. To make the project a success, the firm was on-site for nearly every hour of the construction progress to respond to changes due to field conditions and schedule demands.

S.T.A.R.S. Community Center is a non-profit grass-roots community youth organization that is run entirely by dedicated volunteers who plan activities and events for the neighborhood youth.
