Onondaga Nation School
Nedrow, New York
Lafayette Central School District
Originally constructed in the 1930s, the Onondaga Nation school had seen only one significant capital improvement project in the last 80 years. The school functions as a P-8 feeder into the local high school, but also, as the core of the Onondaga community. A refined focus on culturally rich education has resulted in increase enrollment and a need to develop new space that supports contemporary educational goals. The proposed improvements strike a balance between these educational goals, the community culture, and a desire to maintain environmental balance for future generations. The proposed addition reconnects the school and the site, supports sustainability initiatives and enhances safety and security.
